My love-hate relationship with Flat Design is a constant debate within me. It’s definitely useful at times and can make stuff look professional for minimal effort (the dream eh?) but it always saddened me, that in a decent majority of cases, these simple colourful designs lacked soul, lacked character and lacked imagination.

Material Design by Google, to the rescue, kinda

Material Design by Google is an evolved form of Flat Design, one I was eager to dismiss as yet another example of boring. Yet digging beneath the surface a little there’s a wealth of well thought out design decisions and little features which breathe life into the whole thing! It’s not just about user experience here, it’s added a wonderful user experience.
